I didn’t start with a silver spoon. I started with a pair of drumsticks and a lot of anger.
Born in Anaheim and raised in Albuquerque, I grew up watching my parents’ marriage disintegrate, and my mom wasn’t around much. I was a kid with a lot of rage and nowhere to put it. I didn’t find peace in a clarinet or flute. I found it in drums. While other kids were learning scales, I was learning controlled violence. It gave me a healthier outlet to hit something hard without hurting anyone… and I loved it!
That rhythm took me to the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, and eventually to the streets of Chile as a missionary. I learned discipline, I learned Spanish, and I learned a hard lesson: the world was a hell of a lot bigger than me and my young, selfish ways!
But when I came back, I did what just about everyone does: I bought into the “system.” I spent the next 16 years trapped in the Construct, following their rules, playing it safe, and building a life that wasn’t authentically mine.
Then, the floor fell out.
My marriage ended in a painful divorce, and my business took a massive hit at the exact same time. I found myself at rock bottom, driving food delivery just to make ends meet for my young boys.
I could have spent those hours in the car listening to sad & angry songs, feeling sorry for myself. Instead, I turned my car into a Rolling University while delivering wings, tacos, and pizza. While my customers ate takeout, I devoured hundreds of audiobooks. I studied the physics of focus and energy. I went through deep, brutal therapy to confront the parts of myself I had ignored. The result was a brutal, unbreakable self-awareness.
One day, a therapist taught me a simple truth that hit harder than a kick drum: “The one you seek is the one seeking.”
Empower Humans is the result of that wake-up call. It’s the map I drew while climbing out of the hole. I’m not here to sell you a cloud to float on. I’m here to hand you the sledgehammer, the blueprint, and the capital to build your aligned, joyful life!
